Smart Full-to-PiP Workflow

The included Smart Full-to-PiP Frame automates one of the most common editing workflows in DaVinci Resolve.

Simply drag the template onto your clip to automatically animate it from full screen into a customizable Picture-in-Picture frame. The clip can remain as a PiP throughout your B-roll, presentation, or secondary footage, then optionally animate back to full screen at the end.

Both intro and outro animations can be enabled or disabled independently, with customizable duration and easing controls, eliminating the need to manually create transform keyframes.

What You’ll Receive

Installation

1. Download the ZIP file.
2. Extract the ZIP archive.
3. Double-click the included .drfx file.
4. Click Install (or Overwrite if updating an existing version).
5. DaVinci Resolve will automatically import the templates into the Effects Library.
6. If the templates do not appear immediately, restart DaVinci Resolve.

How to Use

1. Open the Edit page in DaVinci Resolve.
2. Open the Effects Library.
3. Navigate to Toolbox → Effects → DvBlend → PiP Frames.
4. Alternatively, use the search bar in the Effects Library and search for keywords such as PiP, Circle, Rectangle, or Full-to-PiP.
5. Drag a template onto your video clip in the timeline.
6. Select the clip and customize the template using the Inspector panel.

Can’t find the Inspector controls?

1. Select the clip with the template applied.
2. Click the Inspector button in the top-right corner of DaVinci Resolve.
3. Open the Effects tab, then select Fusion to access all template controls.
